A Spooky Home Decor Craft for Kids and Adults
As the crisp autumn air finally fills our city, it's the perfect time to dive into some festive crafting with the family! This Halloween, why not create some delightful decorations that can double as engaging activities? Using simple, accessible materials, we’ve put together a project that’s not just fun but also perfect for decorating any space.
Materials Needed:
Egg cartons
Cardboard from pantry items (cereal, pasta, or cracker boxes)
Acrylic paints
Safety scissors for kids
Scissors for adults
Either hot glue or super glue
Acrylic markers (optional)
Construction paper (optional for texture)
Old frames (optional for repurposing)
Preparation: Before the kids jump in, I prepare the egg carton ghosts and ready the cardboard for painting. Having everything set up beforehand makes the crafting smooth and enjoyable.
Creative Painting: Allow your children to unleash their creativity with the paint. My kiddo loves to mix her colors, which can be a bit challenging for my type-A brain, but the results are impressively spooky and perfect for Halloween. Meanwhile, I experimented with different materials, adding texture with construction paper and even repurposing old frames to give our artwork that extra special touch.
Spooky Details: In our crafting session, we also added charming elements like pumpkins, bows and borders using leftover cardboard, crafting unique, framed pieces.
Showcasing Your Art: Whether it’s setting these decorations in your kiddo’s room, or as a centerpiece in your living room, these crafts are sure to add some halloween charm to your space.
